Recent happenings
Added 17/08/2020
At last I've found a few minutes to update this! I can't believe I haven't written anything since January.
All recent activity has been centred around the recording and production of the new CD and vinyl album (which
is now a double LP) 'London Blues'. it sounds good, can't wait 'til it's out and on sale.
We've played some good gigs lately, The Chapel Arts Centre in Bath particularly being a lovely venue - a
good find, they booked us back straight away (25th Nov).
Attendances have been generally quiet but you're all having the same problems as us, i.e no money. A huge
surprise has been the advance sales for the Electric Palace Theatre at Bridport, over 200 so far, great news and
hopefully a good sign of things to come. I'm very pleased that I've got the band booked into the Robin 2 at
Wolverhampton next year, we played there successfully a few times with the previous line up, it's a very
prestigious venue and this will be our first venture into the Midlands with the new line up. If you have any friends
there let them know, it's Thursday March 29th. That's it for now, have to gird my loins for Bridport and a busy
weekend! |

It's been a long time coming, but this page is dedicated for my ramblings.
There'll be lots of info on
forthcoming events, both Producers and others and upcoming news too.

Wearing my 'Promoters' hat I had booked ace boogie piano player Ben
Waters for a Christmas show at
Lulworth Castle in Dorset. Due to the weather conditions that gig was
cancelled but I managed to reschedule
at
Lulworth Village Hall in early January. The number of people that came took
me by surprise - I had to find
more
tables and chairs but it was almost standing room only! Ben had his young
son Tom playing Sax and I
played
Bass during the 2nd set of Rock 'n' Roll and a great time was had by all. Good
luck to Ben for his
forthcoming
new album featuring all the members of the Rolling Stones no less! We hope
to get Ben playing on one of
the
tracks on our new album.
On the 15th The Producers played in Sheffield for the first time in over 9
years. Originally scheduled for The Boardwalk it was moved to the Greystones
venue as the Boardwalk has closed down. Freezing outside but , with a packed
and very enthusiastic house, very hot and sweaty inside and a superb return
reception for us. We return to Sheffield in November.
The Producers played a 'Boogaloo Weekender' on Hayling Island as a
Friday night headliner then Harry and I played an acoustic set on the Saturday
afternoon, our first for many months. I then drove over to Belgium as a surprise
guest at my friend Patricks birthday party, jamming with the band and getting
very intoxicated, it was my birthday a few days later and I made an early start!
I stayed in Belgium visiting other good friends I hadn't seen for a while then
came back for Rays alternate band 'Steely Scam' at the Square + Compass. Very
good reception from the Steely Dan fans.
The recording session is drawing ever closer and with rehearsing and
playing a few local gigs hopefully we'll be in top form and produce an absolute
stonker! Still sending 4000 gig guides out, one day everyone will turn up together
- in my dreams! Thanks to everyone who sent me birthday greetings - another
year gone but exciting things ahead! |
